A central midfielder with a special tactical sense, representing
an excellent filter in the phase of restraint and making
himself conspicuous for the good geometry in the phase
of re-launch of the action.
He grew up inside Lazio breeding ground, and started out
in serie A with this club at the age of 17 only (14/5/1989,
Lazio-Pisa 1-0).
He is a great fan of Lothar Matthaues and dreams to have
the opportunity to go down in history of Inter like the
German midfielder did. He considers Zdenek Zeman the coach
who mostly contributed to his football maturity.
He proved to have a very strong character, kicking from
the penalty spot against Van der Sar in the series of
penalties in the European semi-final in Holland in 2000.
Two years earlier only, a penalty he kicked on the crossbar
had excluded the Italian National team from the quarterfinals
in the World Championship France 1998. |
